TXT’s Yeonjun Reflects on the Evolving Meaning of Dance Challenges: When ‘Challenge’ Turns Into ‘Battle’

Yeonjun (TXT) talked about Kpop dance challenge

In a recent live session, Yeonjun of TXT received a flood of comments from fans urging him to participate in the trending Smoke Challenge. While many MOAs (TXT’s fandom) eagerly anticipated his participation, Yeonjun expressed some reservations about the evolving meaning of Kpop dance challenges.

The Smoke Challenge, a viral trend that has taken social media by storm, involves Kpop idols and fans showcasing their dancing talents. Fans of Yeonjun were excited about the prospect of him taking on this popular challenge.

However, during the live session, Yeonjun seemed hesitant and shared his thoughts on the changing nature of challenges. He said, “I can dance, but I’m not so sure about this… It seems like the meaning of the challenge has shifted quite a bit. I’m a little apprehensive.”

Yeonjun acknowledged that MOAs would likely appreciate his participation, but he also expressed concern about the potential for negative comments. He noted that it’s not just him but others have faced similar situations when uploading challenge videos. He stated, “People say I should do it because of MOAs, so of course, I’ll do it, but I’m not entirely sure anymore.”

Challenges were originally meant to be, well, challenges, but Yeonjun observed that they have become more like competitions. He explained, “It’s become about who does it better, who excels… If everyone approached it with the original meaning of a challenge, it would be much better. Just watching and enjoying the videos would suffice. But I’ve seen many comments like, ‘Who did it better, who should do it…’ I’m being honest.”

Yeonjun also took the opportunity to praise his fellow TXT member, Huening Kai, for his impressive participation in challenges. However, he mentioned that some fans persistently leave competitive comments, which can be a bit unsettling, even though he tries not to let it affect him. He emphasized that these were his personal feelings and experiences.

Despite his reservations, Yeonjun reassured MOAs that he would participate if that’s what his fans wanted. He playfully added, “If our MOAs want it, I’ll do it!” with a chuckle.

In an era where Kpop dance challenges often blur the line between fun and competition, Yeonjun’s candid remarks shed light on the changing dynamics within the world of online trends. As fans eagerly await his Smoke Challenge video, it’s clear that Yeonjun’s consideration for both the challenge and his fans’ expectations reflects his dedication to his craft and his relationship with MOAs.
