The “Genderless” trend has become a cultural phenomenon.
Genderless fashion, which breaks down the boundaries of gender, has recently been used as a means of expressing one’s personality in the MZ generation. In particular, male idols have recently begun to wear skirts that were considered exclusive to women, breaking public stereotypes.
Member Yeonjun of Tomorrow X Together (hereinafter referred to as “TXT”) appeared on the YouTube channel “Bam’s House” on October 13th and made headlines by showing his extraordinary love for skirts.
In the video released on YouTube, Bam Bam said Yeonjun is famous for dressing well and asked, “Do you have a standard for dressing?” In response, the idol said, “I think I just open the closet, see, and decide which to wear. I don’t want to put any restrictions,” he replied, revealing his own fashion philosophy.
Bam Bam then asked a question about whether Yeonjun also liked skirts, and the singer replied, “Yes.” Bam Bam also replied, “It’s one of my favorite items.”
Later, Bam Bam said, “If you wear a skirt, you feel like the wind is flowing well if you don’t wear underpants,” drawing laughter. In response, Yeonjun expressed sympathy, saying, “I don’t wear underpants with skirts, but I sometimes wear pants underneath.”
In addition to these two singers, many male idols, including CIX’s Bae Jin-young, ATEEZ’s Hong-joong, and BOYNEXTDOOR’s Woon-hak, are taking the lead in genderless fashion by wearing skirts as stage costumes.
