TWICE’s Nayeon, “I don’t think it’s late to make a solo debut after 7 years” + JYP’s cheer, “Nayeon’s solo activities will have a great impact on TWICE”
TWICE’s Nayeon expressed her excitement about making a solo debut.
Nayeon held a press conference on the morning of June 24th to commemorate the release of her first solo album “I’m NAYEON” at the Fairmont Ambassador Seoul hotel in Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul. Announcer Park Sun-young appeared as the host of the event.
7 years after making her debut as a member of TWICE, Nayeon finally released her first solo album. Nayeon’s title song “POP!” features an addictive melody and a captivating message that she’s going to explode one’s heart like a bubble. Famous composers and songwriters, such as KENZIE, LDN Noise and Lee Seu-ran, participated in producing the song. Nayeon’s solo album has a total of 7 songs, including the title track “POP!”, “NO PROBLEM” (Feat. Felix of Stray Kids), “LOVE COUNTDOWN” (Feat. Wonstein), “ALL OR NOTHING”, “CANDYFLOSS”, “HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU”, and “SUNSET”.
Revealing her feelings about her solo debut, Nayeon said, “I’m having mixed emotions. Since I have been preparing this album for a long time, I feel relieved and excited to release it. I’m nervous at the same time because this is my first time doing a promotion alone.”
Regarding the opinion that said her solo debut was a little bit late, Nayeon said, “I personally think the timing is correct and not late at all”, adding, “I’ve accomplished something over the past 7 years. Now, it’s a great opportunity to show my new and fresh sides by doing individual activities and releasing solo albums.”
Being the first member in TWICE to make a solo debut, Nayeon shared, “I was under a lot of pressure being the first member to debut solo, but I tried to relieve them and enjoyed the album preparation process.”
Nayeon also talked about how Park Jin-young cheered on her. She said, “CEO Park Jin-young supported us a lot. He said, ‘From now on, what TWICE accomplishes from individual activities will not be something for your own self but they will have a good influence on TWICE. I gained lots of strength from his words.”
Meanwhile, Nayeon’s solo song “POP!” will be released on all music sites at 1 p.m. She will hold a live performance to commemorate the release of her album at 9:30 p.m on the same day. She will also present fantastic stages on music shows, including KBS2’s “Music Bank”, MBC’s “Music Core” on June 25th, and SBS’s “Inkigayo” on June 26th. In particular, Nayeon will appear on “MTV Fresh Out Live”, a famous American music program, on the morning of June 25th.
