TWICE has once again solidified their title as “Nation’s Girl Group” by joining South Korean President Lee Jae-myung in a special broadcast to discuss the global future of K-pop.
On August 20, Arirang TV aired K-pop: The Next Chapter, featuring TWICE’s Jihyo and Jeongyeon, along with K-pop Demon Hunters co-director Maggie Kang and producer DJ R.Tee.

The presidential office explained, “This program was designed to reflect on K-pop’s global influence and explore opportunities for the future, bringing together key industry figures to share visions and ideas.”
For ONCEs (TWICE’s fans), the appearance was nothing short of symbolic. Many celebrated it as proof of TWICE’s journey from debut to becoming cultural icons recognized at the highest national level.
One fan tweeted:
Other fans reaffirmed their “Nation’s Girl Group” status:
- This is our nation’s girl group.
- TWICE didn’t just earn the title of Nation’s GG—they defined what it means.
- Numbers can be manipulated, but influence cannot. TWICE’s cultural footprint is insane.
This isn’t the first time TWICE has received formal recognition from the government. In 2019, the group was awarded the Hallyu Culture Award by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism for spreading the Korean Wave in Japan.

Most recently, TWICE made headlines with their 90-minute, 21-song set at Lollapalooza Chicago 2025, further proving their unrivaled status in global K-pop.
As Korea seeks to strengthen its soft power as the world’s fifth cultural powerhouse, TWICE’s meeting with the president underscores not only their success but also their role as cultural ambassadors shaping the next era of K-pop.
