Actress Kim Tae-hee —long hailed as the “Goddess of Seoul National University”—recently revealed a funny episode from her college years that left fans both laughing and nostalgic.
On the August 20 preview of tvN’s variety show You Quiz on the Block, Kim Tae-hee opened up about her student life at Seoul National University (SNU) and how she once got caught in an awkward moment involving proxy attendance.
“Back in college, there was this thing called ‘proxy roll call.’ You know you shouldn’t do it, but sometimes students asked their friends to answer for them,” she explained.
“One time, I asked a friend to do it. When the professor called ‘Kim Tae-hee,’ my friend answered… but everyone in the classroom started whispering, ‘Is that really Kim Tae-hee?’ It was so embarrassing for her.”
The actress admitted that her friend was upset about the situation, and she felt sorry afterward. Hosts Yoo Jae-suk and Jo Se-ho burst into laughter, teasing that “anyone could see it wasn’t you.”

Kim Tae-hee majored in Clothing and Textiles at SNU, where she was already famous for her flawless beauty and intelligence. She earned the nickname “SNU Goddess” from fellow students.
Fellow actress Lee Ha-nee, who was her junior at SNU, once recalled: “When I was next to her, I couldn’t even misbehave. If I fell asleep in class, people would say, ‘Kim Tae-hee is sleeping.’ I even acted like her bodyguard, telling people not to stare or take pictures.”
Beyond her career, Kim Tae-hee’s personal life continues to captivate fans. In 2017, she married top star Rain, and the couple now has two daughters. Kim Tae-hee balances motherhood with her ongoing acting projects, proving that she remains one of Korea’s most admired actresses.
