TV Chosun Deleted Article On Lee Sun-kyun’s Last Will With False Information About Penalties

At 9 p.m. on December 27th, TV Chosun exclusively released an article titled, “Lee Sun-kyun To His Wife, ‘This Is The Only Way’”.

The media covered the last will of the late actor Lee Sun-kyun. They released some parts of the will, such as “I’m sorry but the advertising and movie penalties are so large”, “I think this is the only way”, etc.

They even mentioned how much the penalty was, saying “Advertising and movie penalties amounted up to 10 billion won”,  making it sound like the actor was under great financial pressure.

However, the article was different from the real will left by Lee Sun-kyun. In particular, the “10 billion won” penalty seems to have been a groundless interpretation by the media outlet. It is pointed out that there is no basis for such a calculation.

Insiders in the movie and advertising industries said to Dispatch, “Penalties cannot be discussed in a situation where the criminal punishment has not been confirmed. The case has not reached that stage yet”.

On January 2nd, HODU&U Entertainment filed a complaint against TV Chosun’s report. The agency asked reporter Lee to “sincerely apologize and faithfully compile with the legal proceedings”. They also requested other media outlets to correct and delete articles they reported without confirming the facts beforehand.

As a of the deceased’s agency legal action, TV Chosun deleted the article about the last will of Lee Sun-kyun on the 4th.
