Top Child Actress Became Waitress In New Zealand, “Foreigners Don’t Judge My Appearance”

Actress Mayuko Fukuda stopped working in the entertainment industry

On November 19th, a Japanese media outlet released their interview with Mayuko Fukuda to update on her recent situation.

In this interview, when asked about the reason for the suspension of her entertainment activities, Mayuko confessed, “I started acting when I was young, and of course I felt happy and rewarding, but I just ran forward and felt like I had broken the thread before I turned 20.”

She added, “At the time, my skin was not in good condition and I was not in a state where I could stand in front of the camera with confidence.” “There was a time when I couldn’t think positively about work,” adding, “I decided to take a bold break because I thought it wouldn’t get better if I kept forcing myself to do it.”

Mayuko stopped her activities and worked as a waiter at a hotel restaurant in Hakuba Village in Nagano Prefecture, then worked part-time at a pork cutlet shop. She has been living in New Zealand since July this year.

Mayuko said, “My new job doesn’t expect much from me, so as long as I can do a little, they’ll be happy and I’m happy. It feels like something you can’t experience in the entertainment industry,” expressing satisfaction.

“Also, since I was young, I have always had a complex because of my rough skin. However, foreign guests have told me things such as “your skin is pretty” and “your skin is perfect,” she said, adding, “From the Japanese point of view, I thought I was not beautiful and I was always afraid of people’s judgements, but now I’m happy that those negative emotions have disappeared.”

Meanwhile, Mayuko Fukuda began her career in the entertainment industry as a child actress. She announced that she would temporarily suspend her activities at the end of last year.
