Top 5 most “chaotic” married couples in K-dramas

Married life in K-dramas seems to be full of turbulence.

If a K-drama ends in a marriage, it’s often considered a happy ending, but already married couples in K-dramas seem to mostly lead some hectic lives, and below are 5 prime examples.

1. Lee Sang Yoon – Jang Nara (VIP)

In “VIP”, we have Na Jung Sun (Jang Nara) and Park Sung Jun (Lee Sang Yoon), who seem to have a perfectly sweet marriage, only for the husband to be a cheater.

As co-workers in the same company, Na Jung Sun slowly digs up all sorts of clues about a relationship between her husband and a female colleague. At the same time, she faces various difficulties both at work and home, and her sweet ideal life all turns out to be a lie.

While “VIP” boasts an open ending with no divorce, many viewers think such a marriage simply cannot be salvaged.

2. Lee Jun Ki – Moon Chae Won (Flower of Evil)

In “Flower of Evil”, there may be no cheating between Baek Hee Sung (Lee Jun Ki) and Cha Ji Won (Moon Chae Won), but there are certainly a lot of lies. This couple was introduced with their beautiful daughter and sweet love, only for Cha Ji Won to discover an extremely scary thing about her husband.

Clue after clue, and our female lead finds out that Baek Hee Sung isn’t her husband real name nor identity, and she is in fact married to a man called Do Hyun Soo, a hiding murder suspect.

Nevertheless, after a lot of unveiled secrets and challenges, the couple find their way back to each other. Baek Hee Sung may be a fake identity, but his love for his family is real and raw.

3. Uhm Ki Joon – Lee Ji Ah (Penthouse)

If the two aforementioned couple at least love each other, then Joo Dan Tae (Uhm Ki Joon) and Shim Su Ryeon (Lee Ji Ah), have plans to murder each other. They may look like the wealthiest and enviable couple at first sight, but their marriage was full of scams, lies, and schemes.

Of course, with the drama-filled series that is “Penthouse”, there’s no happy ending for this marriage, making this couple perhaps the most chaotic of them all.

4. Park Hyung Sik – Han Hyo Joo (Happiness)

Yoon Sae Bom (Han Hyo Joo) and Jung Yi Hyun (Park Hyung Sik)’s relationship is already chaotic from their premise. First, they get a fake marriage to buy an apartment, then, they start fighting “zombies”. Unlike the “Penthouse” couple though, the feelings that Yi Hyun has for Sae Bom are real, and she also slowly starts to realize that.

After a long and painstaking battle against an unknown virus, Jung Yi Hyun finally wins over his dream girl. For such a grim and dark series, the ending of “Happiness” actually resonates with its title.

5. Lee Jong Suk – Yoona (Big Mouth)

Finally, let’s greet a recent chaotic couple in the form of Park Chang Ho (Lee Jong Suk) and Go Mi Ho (Yoona). The start of their relationship was extremely cute, with them meeting as students, dating for a long time, before becoming husband and wife. They bicker all the time but have an immense amount of love and trust for each other.

However, this happy marriage is later cut short as Park Chang Ho is unjustly imprisoned, and Go Mi Ho searches for means to prove his innocence. The couple is still as cute as ever amid adversities, but there have been theories that one of them may be the mastermind.
