Not Song Joong Ki’s excessive skin correction, Tiffany Young’s acting is the real problem of “Reborn Rich”
Viewers pointed out Tiffany Young’s acting performance as a flaw in the crystal-like drama “Reborn Rich”.
JTBC’s Fri-Sat-Sun “Reborn Rich” is a fantasy drama that tells about a secretary of a chaebol family living his second life after being reincarnated as the youngest son of the chaebol family. Starting well with a high rating of 6.058% from the first episode, this work rose significantly to peak at 14.88% in episode 6, becoming the best JTBC drama this year.
Based on a novel of the same name, “Reborn Rich” built its script using the solid existing setting as a stepping stone and captivated the audiences with attractive stories. By making some changes to the original novel’s content, the drama is raising viewers’ interest and curiosity about its future developments. In addition, the performances of trustworthy actors, such as Song Joong Ki and Lee Sung Min, also helped the drama get good results in both ratings and popularity.
However, there is no rose without a thorn. Many viewers are saying that the acting of Girls’ Generation member Tiffany Young, who made her first drama debut in “Reborn Rich”, is breaking their immersion. In the drama, Tiffany Young plays Rachel, Jin Do Joon (Song Joong Ki)’s assistant.
Tiffany Young has only experienced acting in only two musicals. She debuted in the 2011 musical “Fame”, and returned on the stage 10 years later through “Chicago”.
This is the first time Tiffany Young tried drama acting so fans did not raise high expectations for her acting skills. However, she could not stand out among the actors even with a special character that has a unique way of speaking and tone due to her Korean-American identity.
Instead of becoming her character, Tiffany Young actually gives viewers a strong impression of “Girls’ Generation Tiffany is acting”. Even after watching “Reborn Rich”, many people are still calling her character Tiffany instead of Rachel. Despite having long lines to express Rachel as a talented assistant, Tiffany Young failed to portray her character perfectly. Her weak character portrayal ability is pointed out as a minus point in this drama.
Earlier, some people criticized the excessive skin correction for the main character Jin Do Joon played by Song Joong Ki in the 3rd episode of “Reborn Rich”. In fact, skin correction is applied to Song Joong Ki as he has to play a college student in his early 20s. However, this small detail was not enough to be considered a flaw in this masterpiece. It was Tiffany Young’s inexperienced acting that prevented viewers from immersing themselves in the story.
