Tiffany Young Talks About Filming First Kiss Scene With Byun Yo-han In “Uncle Samsik”

Tiffany Young had an interview at a cafe in Samcheong-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul on June 26th and talked about Disney+’s original series “Uncle Samsik” after it ended.

Known as veteran actor Song Kang-ho’s first drama in 32 years since his debut, “Uncle Samsik” tells about uncle Sam-sik (Song Kang-ho), who eats three meals a day even during the war, and Kim San (Byun Yo-han), an elite man who wants to make a country where everyone can eat and live well, trying to achieve their dream together in a chaotic era.

Tiffany Young appeared in the drama ss Rachel Jeong and performed a romance with Kim San. Regarding her costar Byun Yo-han, Tiffany shared, “I think he’s a very passionate person. I tried to absorb his energy as much as possible. He was a little scary in the beginning but I worked with the thought that this person was my real partner and became as passionate as him so that I could have good chemistry. I’m proud that we created many unimaginable ideas and scenes. I learned how to use my energy in acting thanks to Byun Yo-han and what I should do to continue doing this for a long time in the future. He’s very talented. I want to be like him, an actor who gets along well with other actors and staff members and has the power to attract people’s attention”.

Regarding their skinship scenes, Tiffany laughed and said, “I filmed so many scenes a day, so I was like ‘Okay, next’. I think our partnership in concentration was good. On the other hand, senior Song Kang-ho kept teasing me, saying ‘When Rachel came, Kim San didn’t even look at Joo Yeo-jin’. I don’t have much experience but I enjoyed the shoot. The first kiss scene was intense and hot”.

She continued, “It was almost an action scene because actor Byun Yo-han had a beard. My face and lips got puffy after filming it again. It was almost like an action scene. It was a one-take shot. The scenes in episode 9 and episode 12 have different lines so I had to do different takes. There was something that couldn’t be disclosed earlier, and we had to do multiple takes and shoots several times. The lighting changed a little. Since I might feel embarrassed, we filmed it with the minimum number of staff members, like doing a group dance scene. I tried to stay focused as much as possible. There were so many scenes to shoot in a day, and I was the last character to join the team. The pressure was double so I didn’t talk much.”

Byun Yo-han actually called Tiffany “English teacher”. Tiffany shared, “100 points. It was almost 90 points”, adding “I practiced many styles and rhythms. Since my voice sounded too modern, I looked up old speeches and copied how a Korean person from that era would speak English. After much research, I decided on a specific accent. He has a very good sense so he caught up with me quickly. He understood everything even when I spoke English. The actor has good language skills. He’s also good at Chinese” I think his language and accent are really good”.
