Comedian Park Na-rae has recently suspended her broadcasting activities after becoming embroiled in multiple controversies, including allegations of mistreating her manager and receiving illegal medical services. Amid the growing scrutiny, renewed attention has turned to a past television appearance in which she revealed alarming results from an alcohol dependency test.

The issue resurfaced following claims made by her former manager, who alleged that even during a meeting intended to reach a settlement, Park appeared to be under the influence of alcohol an assertion that shocked many viewers. Against this backdrop, clips from Park’s 2019 appearance on MBC Every1’s Video Star have circulated widely online.
During the May 7, 2019 broadcast, Park underwent an alcohol dependency self-assessment administered by psychiatrist and TV personality Yang Jae-woong. The test consisted of four questions commonly used to screen for alcohol dependence: whether the participant has ever felt the need to quit drinking, experienced guilt related to drinking, sought alcohol immediately upon waking, or faced criticism from others because of drinking. Park answered “yes” to all four questions, prompting visible concern in the studio.

Reacting to the results, Yang explained that identifying with two or more items typically warrants professional consultation, advising Park to seek help from a medical specialist. The moment drew attention at the time but has taken on renewed significance amid recent developments.
Earlier this week, Park’s former manager appeared on JTBC’s Scandal Supervisor, detailing the circumstances of a meeting held in the early morning hours to discuss reconciliation. According to the former manager, Park was intoxicated during the encounter and did not address any apology or settlement terms. The former manager further claimed that Park suggested resuming their previous working relationship and even proposed going to a karaoke bar, statements that fueled public concern.

On December 3, Park’s former managers reportedly filed for a provisional property seizure against her, citing allegations including aggravated assault, workplace harassment, and unpaid expenses. As the controversy intensified, Park addressed the situation on social media, stating that she had met her former manager with help from others and resolved misunderstandings. She added that she could no longer cause disruption to programs or colleagues and announced a temporary halt to her activities.

Since then, Park has stepped down from shows such as Amazing Saturday, I Live Alone, and Where Is My Home, and has paused operations of her popular YouTube channel Naraesik. Debuting in 2006 as part of KBS’s 21st class of comedians, Park Na-rae has long been a prominent figure in Korean entertainment, making the unfolding situation all the more impactful for viewers and fans alike.
