Ticket price sky-rockets for BLACKPINK’s encore concert in Thailand, angering fans

International fans are shocked to see the increased ticket price for BLACKPINK’s encore concert in Thailand.

Recently, YG Entertainment announced that BLACKPINK will be returning to Bangkok, Thailand for an encore concert of their world tour BORN PINK. Seeing that the girl group will come to Lisa’s home nation again, many fans were excited, only for such excitement to be squashed with the ticket price revealed.

In particular, the VIP ticket price for BLACKPINK’s encore concert in Bangkok, Thailand, is listed at 14,800 THB (around 450 USD), while tickets for the cheapest zone are listed at 2,800 THB (about 80 USD), a rather unaffordable range for Southeast Asian fans. In addition, when BLACKPINK visited Bangkok for their concert in January, tickets cost from 2,000 THB to 9,600 THB, a way lower range compared to the newly-announced price.

In addition, despite the premium price for VIP tickets, there’s no additional benefits compared to BLACKPINK’s previous Bangkok concert, except for those being seating instead of standing. Meanwhile, owners of VIP tickets in BLACKPINK’s concerts in Europe would get to attend send-offs, where they meet BLACKPINK after the performances ended.

Moreover, the venue for BLACKPINK’s encore concert in Thailand is at Rajamangala National Stadium, which is way outside of the city center. Seeing that the venue’s capacity is a whooping 51 thousand people, it would be a struggle for fans to find accommodations and transportation should they attend the concert.

The hiked ticket prices have thus, invoked anger and confusion among BLACKPINK fans, both in and outside of Thailand. Some even joked that with the money they are spending, YG “may as well build a new stadium”.

Below are some comments from netizens:

  • There’s no reasonable explanation for such a huge increase in ticket prices
  • Are they building a new stadium after this or something?
  • I’d understand if there are some additional benefits, but there aren’t any…
  • The hike in ticket price may be because a bigger venue costs more. Still, that’s almost twice as expensive
  • I can’t fathom why they think such prices are a good idea
