This K-drama actor almost retired for his wife, considered Korea’s “acting god” with an admirable life

Famous Korean actor Ji Sung almost quit acting altogether to woo his current wife.

Fought against his parents to pursue acting, now considered Korea’s “acting god”

Famous actor Ji Sung was born in 1977 to a family with a long-standing education tradition, with his father being a school principal and his mother being a teacher. However, while his parents wished for Ji Sung to follow their steps, the actor dreamt of becoming a professional baseball player until high school. This changed after Ji Sung watched Dustin Hoffman’s outstanding portrayal in “Rain Man”, which kick-started his acting dream.

At first, due to his parent’s hatred for the acting career, Ji Sung enrolled in the Philosophy department of Suwon University. However, he never gave up on his acting dream, and so decided to halt his studies and sent his information to the broadcasting station SBS. As a result, Ji Sung managed to score a role in the K-drama “KAIST”, and later became a Theater & Film student at Hanyang University.

The decision to pursue his dream turns out to be an excellent move on Ji Sung’s behalf, as he was highly evaluated by Song Ji Na, the screenwriter of “KAIST”. Therefore, after a couple of small roles, Ji Sung started to play major ones, before finally breaking through with the 2003 series “All In”. At the time, most actors of the same generation turn the drama down for fear of being compared with actor Lee Byung Hun, but Ji Sung decided to take on the challenge, and reaped fruitful results worthy of his efforts.

Failure” is simply not a word applicable to Ji Sung’s career, as his acting skills have been described as “insane” and “masterful”. Despite starring in a lot of projects, the actor never repeats the same image, and even played different personalities in the same work.

An ideal marriage with his gorgeous celebrity wife

The love story between Ji Sung and his wife – actress Lee Bo Young, is one of the most romantic out there. In particular, the couple met on the set of “Save The Last Dance For Me”, and Ji Sung fell in love at first sight. He continuously confessed his feelings for Lee Bo Young, and even promised to stop acting since the actress didn’t like to date celebrities. However, at the time, Lee Bo Young only considered Ji Sung a close friend.

However, Ji Sung didn’t back down, and continued to pursue who he believed to be the love of his life. In 2007, the couple announced their relationship, and immediately faced a lot of backlash. At the time, many netizens believed that Ji Sung and Lee Bo Young started dating when Ji Sung was still with his ex-girlfriend, and that Lee Bo Young interfered in his relationship. Faced with such accusations, Ji Sung and Lee Bo Young decided to use their love to conquer all, eventually regaining the public’s favor, before sealing the deal with a fairy-tale-like wedding in 2013. According to Ji Sung, he considered retiring to support his wife’s career, but the couple decided against it. Now, he’s the father to two children and the happiest man on earth.

Except for the criticism in 2007, Ji Sung has never faced any other issue, and is instead famous for having a clean record and a humble lifestyle. Despite having received numerous outstanding awards across his career, Ji Sung expressed that he’s only a lucky guy. The actor also insisted that he never contemplates winning awards while picking his projects, and instead only cares about what character and challenge he will tackle next.
