Music show production teams are mourning the late Moonbin, who used to perform many stages when he was alive, in different ways.
ASTRO Moonbin was found dead at his residence in Gangnam-gu, Seoul on April 19th. His mortuary was set up at Asan Hospital with his younger sister Billlie Moon Sua as the chief mourner. Moonbin’s funeral will be held on the 22nd.
Mnet’s “M Countdown” was the first music show to air after Moonbin’s death. On the 20th, CJ ENM announced that its broadcast would air as scheduled with a calm atmosphere to mourn the deceased. In particular, the two MCs of “M Countdown”, (G)I-DLE Miyeon and MONSTA X Jooheon, urgently changed to all-black outfits and wore no accessories, such as necklaces or earrings. Before beginning the show, Miyeon paid tribute to Moonbin, saying “Today, we received news that a colleague who had been laughing and crying with us on stage for a long time suddenly left us and became a star in the sky. We sincerely hope that you rest in peace.”
“M Countdown” did not hold the encore stage for 1st place winner and the No.1 group IVE also finished their part with a short acceptance speech. Everyone who participated in the show that day bowed their heads and showed no expressions on their faces. At the end of the broadcast, Jooheon and Miyeon once again expressed their condolences to Moonbin’s family and fans who are suffering due to the heartbreaking news.
On the 21st, KBS 2TV’s “Music Bank” also mourned Moonbin. Before introducing the stages, MCs Lee Chae Min and LESSERAFIM Hong Eun Chae said, “We received sad news in the music industry this week. Moonbin, who shone on the stage more brightly than anyone else. May he rest in peace”, adding “We will always remember Moonbin, who is not shining on the stage anymore but will be shining in our hearts forever.”
MBC M’s “Show Champion” also delivered their condolences to the deceased. This music show is where Moonbin used to work as an MC from March 2020 to October last year.
“Show Champion” production team revealed a message on their official SNS account, saying “2 years and 8 months with Moonbin. It was really warm, thank you. So many happy reasons together, we will forever remember. We won’t forget how he used to be such a brilliant and passionate person. May he rest in peace.”
On the 21st, Moonbin’s agency Fantagio announced that his funeral, scheduled on the 22nd, will be strictly observed and held with the participation of only the bereaved family and ASTRO members.
