An actress who starred in “Arthdal Chronicles” shed tears at a press conference for her comeback movie, after being condemned for an infidelity controversy.
On November 26th, Erika Karata appeared in front of the audience through a press conference for the movie “No Hou e, Nagareru”, where she co-starred alongside actor Yuya Endo.
At this event, Erika Karata discussed her feelings about appearing in the movie and said, “I got this opportunity through an audition. To this day, I am still so grateful.”
The actress also expressed her thoughts about her hiatus, which she took after getting involved in an infidelity. “During this period, I realized who I was. Acting has always been important to me and I want to repay the people who I love and who love me. There are many things I want to convey through acting. While I was taking a break from work, I thought I had to change while having several conversations with other people. Now I want to properly tackle new projects and repay you all with good acting,” she said, shedding tears.
In the movie “No Hou e, Nagareru”, which was released in November, Erika Karata played the role of Satomi, who quitted her job and ran the store of her sister. Meanwhile, Yuya Endo transformed into Satomi’s lover Tomotoku.
Erika Karata is a Japanese actress who has made her face known to Korean fans by collaborating with Song Joong Ki in the 2019 tvN drama “Arthdal Chronicles”. She also appeared in the MV for Naul’s “Emptiness in Memory”.
In 2018, Erika met Mashiro Higashide while filming for the movie “Asako I & II”, and had an affair with him. Since the actress was underage at the time, the scandal was extremely shocking.
Meanwhile, Mashiro Higashide married his wife, Anne Watanabe, in 2015 and has a son and twin daughters. It was known that he and Erika continued to meet each other despite being caught twice by the wife.
As the controversy spread, Erika Karata’s agency issued an official statement, which said, “We are reflecting on our careless behavior and deeply accepting our own weakness, carelessness, and stupidity. We will do our best to prevent this from happening.”
