This actress kept playing high school student roles until the age of 28 because of her young face

The actress decided to change her stage name and started her acting career again in order to play different roles.

This actress debuted through the drama “Sang Doo! Let’s go to school” and became famous after appearing in the “Nonstop” series.

That actress is Kim Byul. She used to appear in lots of dramatized music videos, which were filmed with popular actors and joined Lee Jun-gi’s legendary advertisement “Beauty likes pomegranates” as Beauty.

However, Kim Byul only played high school student roles until the age of 28 due to her young face. No matter how young she looked, her position in the film industry gradually decreased because of the age barrier. She was left behind when competing against actual high school students and actors in their early 20s in auditions.

Therefore, she made a quite surprising decision. It was changing her stage name, which is considered as important as the face of an actor. She changed her name from Kim Byul to the new stage name Song Ha-yoon and started her second acting career. The actress shared, “It was a hopeful start, but also a restart that was not easy at all”.

After changing her name, the actress appeared in 1-2 works or more every year but since the works didn’t succeed, she nearly became unknown in the industry.  It was the drama “My Daughter, Geum Sa-wol” that made her name be known to the viewers again.

Thanks to the great success of that drama, in which she played a prominent role, Song Ha-yoon finally overcame her sadness of being an unknown actress. After that, Song Ha-yoon continued to get acknowledged when appearing in the movie “Intimate Strangers” as Se-kyung and performing alongside Lee Seo-jin and many famous actors.

Song Ha-yoon was cast for the main character role in the drama “History of Nerds”, which is created based on a webtoon written by Kim Poong. She will work together with Jo Byung-gyu, who is famous for his role in “The Uncanny Counter”.
