This 2nd gen female idol learned about wine from Song Hye Kyo at the age of 21

A story that recently caught the attention of many netizens is that of Jung Eun Ji, the main vocalist of 2nd-generation girl group Apink, who learned about wine from actress Song Hye Kyo when she was 21 years old.

This story surfaced on the online community Theqoo, where a post titled “Jung Eun Ji learned about wine from Song Hye Kyo when she was 21” garnered much attention. Many netizens were intrigued by the unlikely encounter between the two celebrities who seemed to have no connection.

The post shared an excerpt from an interview that Jung Eun Ji did with JTBC’s “Newsroom” in 2013. During the interview, Jung Eun Ji discussed her thoughts on wine and mentioned Song Hye Kyo. This immediately caught the attention of the interviewer.

Jung Eun Ji revealed that she didn’t know much about wine at the time and had her first taste of the drink thanks to Song Hye Kyo. She revealed that Song Hye Kyo had invited her to join her and some friends for wine on a street near Sinsa-dong after they finished filming the drama “That Winter, The Wind Blows.” Song Hye Kyo introduced Jung Eun Ji to various kinds of wine and taught her about them.

Upon learning about this encounter, many netizens expressed their envy through comments such as “I want to be close to Hye Kyo too,” “I envy you,” “Song Hye Kyo has a lot of unexpected connections.” 

One netizen even made a playful reference to recent dramas that Jung Eun Ji and Song Hye Kyo appeared in, “Work Later, Drink Now” and “The Glory”, saying, “Kang Ji Gu learned about alcohol from Moon Dong Eun.”

Jung Eun Ji and Song Hye Kyo got to know each other by filming SBS’s drama “That Winter, The Wind Blows” aired in 2013. “That Winter, Wind Blows” tells the story of a man (Jo In Sung), who is abandoned by his parents and lives a meaningless life and a woman (Song Hye Kyo), who lives a lonely and tiring life due to sudden visual impairment. Jung Eun Ji appeared in the drama as the ex-girlfriend of Jo In Sung’s character’s younger brother.

Aside from her acting career, Jung Eun Ji is also a successful K-pop idol who is part of the girl group Apink. The group recently celebrated their 12th debut anniversary and is set to release their 10th mini-album titled “SELF” on April 5. The title track, “DND (Do Not Disturb),” carries a hopeful message encouraging listeners to imagine their own world without any interruptions.
