OTT platform wavve is discussing about a homosexual entertainment program.
Ilgan Sports reported on May 10th that wavve is reviewing the plan for an entertainment program dealing with same-sex relationships. According to the report, Hong Seok-cheon, Shin Dong-yup and Kim Eana are strong candidates for the position as MC.
An official from wavve told Ilgan Sports, “We are preparing for an original entertainment show that will be released this summer. It is true that a work dealing with gay love is under consideration. However, we are still cautious about giving a definite answer.”
Recently, works dealing with same-sex romance are increasing on OTT platforms. In particular, Watcha’s original drama “Semantic Error” gained great popularity among women in their 20s and 30s beyond the existing BL (Boys Love) interest group.
As Park Seo-ham and DKZ Park Jae-chan became known to the public through “Semantic Error”, various OTT platforms are increasing BL-related contents.
Netflix already has a number of original queer works. People are raising expectations since original works are rare on Korean OTT platforms such as TVING, Watcha and wavve.
