Some netizens pointed out the scene of the teenage single mother in “All of Us Are Dead” and voiced criticisms.
Raising high expectations from the viewers even before its release, Netflix’s original series “All of Us Are Dead” was unveiled on January 28th. “All of Us Are Dead” tells about high school students, who are trapped in their school where the zombie virus spread, and people, who try to save the students, struggling to survive in unexpected extreme situations.
According to the online content service rankings website Flix Patrol, “All of Us Are Dead” is leading the K-Zombie craze by ranking No.1 in the Worldwide Netflix TV Show category a day after its official release. However, some viewers pointed out some scenes which they consider “not necessary” in the drama.
In particular, a controversy was raised centering on the scene in which the pregnant high school student Park Hee-soo (Lee Chae-eun) gives birth in the bathroom. Internet users commented, “What is the meaning behind this scene?”, “It has no relation to the main characters’ stories”, “This scene was so unexpected. It’s not even in the original webtoon”. They also said, “The scene was described too specifically”, regarding the part in which the amniotic fluid ruptures.
Moreover, upon watching the scene of Park Hee-soo turning into a zombie and tying her arms to the door to protect her child, the viewers guessed, “I think they added this story to express maternal love”. “Even if it didn’t have a direct influence on the story, I think it contributed to the background and the atmosphere of the drama. It touched the viewers with emotional lines”, some netizens argued that there was no reason to question the scene.
