The rediscovery of Kang Tae-oh, Joo Hyun-young and Kang Ki-young through “Extraordinary Attorney Woo” Syndrome

Not only Park Eun-bin is receiving favorable responses for excellent transformation as Woo Young-woo, but other actors of “Extraordinary Attorney Woo” are also being “rediscovered”.

Extraordinary Attorney Woo” is currently a syndrome as it broke ENA Channel’s rating record by surpassing 5% in just 4 episodes. On the OTT platform Netflix, it topped the TV Show category in Korea and also became the No.1 non-English TV series in the first week of July.

Above all, “Extraordinary Attorney Woo” is attracting keen attention every time a new episode is released thanks to Park Eun-bin’s acting transformation. This drama depicts the process of Woo Young-woo (Park Eun-bin), who has a genius brain and autism spectrum disorder at the same time, becoming a true lawyer by solving various cases.

Park Eun-bin perfectly pulled off a complicated character that might be awkward and uncomfortable to watch and increased the viewers’ immersion into the story. Her efforts to create her own Woo Young-woo, from her voice to her eyes and gestures, have paid off.

Apart from the main character portrayed by Park Eun-bin, attention and interest are also drawn to other characters, such as Woo Young-woo’s best friend Dong Geu-ra-mi (Joo Hyun-young) and her colleagues at Hanbada law firm Lee Joon-ho (Kang Tae-oh) and Jung Myung-seok (Kang Ki-young).

First, Kang Tae-oh took on the role of Hanbada’s legal team employee Lee Joon-ho who captivated women’s hearts with his melodramatic eyes, bright smile, and kindness. Jun-ho is the person who takes care of Young-woo so that she would not feel uncomfortable at work and listens to Young-woo’s stories about whales whenever they eat together. The way he always looks at Young-woo with loving eyes flutters fans’ hearts.

Above all, his sincere heart which is shown in the scene where he took Young-woo to the conference room to see the giant blue whale painting after she won a case, impressed the viewers. This scene also recorded the highest real-time viewer rating of 6.4%.

Kang Tae-oh, who has performed a variety of characters in “The Tale of Nokdu”, “Run On”, “Doom at Your Service”, etc., has proved his potential to become the next-generation “melodrama male lead” with the huge attention he is receiving through “Extraordinary Attorney Woo”.

Joo Hyun-young, who rose to stardom after appearing in Coupang Play “SNL Korea” as freshman intern reporter Joo Ki-ja, also showed off her solid drama acting skills through “Extraordinary Attorney Woo”. She caught the eyes of drama fans by playing Woo Young-woo’s best friend Dong Geu-ra-mi.

Dong Geu-ra-mi provides warm healing to Young-woo as a reliable supporter. The two bring about pleasant moments with their amazing chemistry when greeting in their unique way, giving advice to each other, and cheering on each other on the court.

Kang Ki-young plays Woo Young-woo’s mentor – senior lawyer Jung Myung-seok. He is responsible for creating laughter in the drama with his witty ad-libs while serving as a strong shield to prevent prejudice against autistic people.

Drama fans are looking forward to seeing how famous Woo Young-woo will become and what new records “Extraordinary Attorney Woo” will break with its warm and well-scripted script, detailed directing and actors’ passionate acting.
