The reason why ex-BIGBANG’s Seungri was quietly released from prison without the reporters’ presence

After serving about a year and 6 months in prison, Seungri got out of prison earlier than expected. Thus, he avoided the reporters.

On February 9th, the news of Seungri’s release from prison drew attention. An official from Yeoju Prison, where Seungri was imprisoned, explained to Xports News, “There is a possibility that Seungri’s scheduled release date, originally known as February 11th, was misinformed.”

Thanks to the initially misinformed release date, Seungri was able to come out of prison quietly after serving his sentence. The media’s attention was already heating up a week before the expected date of Seungri’s release from prison.

From the early hours of the scheduled release date, reporters were expected to flock to Seungri’s release path near Yeoju Prison. But now, the slightest expectation of Seungri showing reflection and apology for his crimes in front of the reporters has collapsed.

The public’s attention has also been focused on the news of Seungri’s surprise release from prison, as he is a key figure in the ‘Burning Sun Incident’ that shocked society beyond the entertainment industry in 2019. Questions have continued about whether he plans to return to the entertainment industry after serving a year and a half on a whopping nine charges, including arranging prostitution, habitual gambling, and embezzlement.

Of course, the public’s reaction to Seungri’s possible comeback is cold. Fans of BIGBANG expressed concern that Seungri getting out of prison might lead to him meeting with the other four members.

BIGBANG became a 4-member group after Seungri’s announcement to retire from the entertainment industry. After that, BIGBANG had a difficult time before making a comeback as a full group, so the majority of the group’s fandom is very angry at Seungri.

Interest in singers Jung Joon Young and Choi Jong Hoon, who were involved in Seungri’s ‘Burning Sun’ case, is also growing. They were both sentenced to prison for group sexual assault and illegal filming. Jung Joon Young is scheduled to be released in 2025 and Choi Jong Hoon was released from prison in November 2021.
