The most outstanding young actors and actresses under YG Entertainment
Not only idols, YG also has a lineup of young actors who have both visuals and talents.
Earlier this week, the news of Yoo Seung Ho joining YG Entertainment came as a surprise to the public. With Yoo Seung Ho being added to the lineup of young talented actors under YG, YG promises to become an even more successful management agency for actors in the industry.
Lee Sung Kyung
Making her acting debut in 2014, Lee Sung Kyung has moved past the image of a model-turned actress thanks to her hard work over the years. Currently, the 32-year-old star is one of the most followed Korean actresses on Instagram. Starting out as a model, Lee Sung Kyung has been working hard in acting by challenging herself in a variety of roles.
It’s Okay That’s Love, Cheese In The Trap, Doctors, Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo, Dr. Romantic 2 are the most outstanding dramas Lee Sung Kyung has participated in. In 2022, she will return to the small screen in tvN’s Shooting Stars alongside rising actor Kim Young Dae.
Jang Ki Yong
Another model-turned-actor, Jang Ki Yong, is also an outstanding young actor managed by YG. Jang Ki Yong has successfully shown his potential through memorable on-screen performances, either in supporting or leading roles. Jang Ki Yong is known for his talent for sparking chemistry with every female co-star he is paired with.
In 2019, Jang Ki Yong won Best New Actor in TV for his role in Come And Hug Me at the prestigious Baeksang Arts Awards. Having both good looks and decent acting skills, Jang Ki Yong promises to achieve more success after completing his military service.
Going through a tough time due to negative comments while playing the female lead in the controversial drama Snowdrop, Jisoo’s efforts are still appreciated by many viewers even though her acting is not perfect yet.
According to the Korean viewers, Jisoo still needs to improve her control of facial expressions, pronunciation and intonation when acting. But for a rookie actress who started out as an idol, her performance in Snowdrop still deserves some compliments. With a gorgeous “actress-like” visual, Jisoo especially shines in emotional crying scenes. Fans are looking forward to seeing Jisoo in more melodramas in the future.
Kang Seung Yoon
Before debuting in WINNER in 2014, Kang Seung Yoon played a supporting character in season 3 of the famous sitcom High Kick!. Kang Seung Yoon made a comeback as an actor in 2017 in Prison Playbook. Watching Kang Seung Yoon act, it feels more like he is an actor-turned singer, not the other way around.
The last drama that the male star starred in was the supporting role of Han Woo Joo in Voice Season 4. This March on MBC, everyone will meet Kang Seung Yoon again through a cameo in the drama Tomorrow. Let’s hope that we can see Kang Seung Yoon appear in a lead role in another drama in the future.
Son Na Eun
After ending the contract with the old company Play M in April 2021, a month later, Son Na Eun immediately came to YG to develop her acting career. Starting at the new agency, she had a supporting role in the drama Ghost Doctor airing earlier this year on tvN. Her acting is not yet good and there is still a lot of effort to be made, but compared to the old works, Son Na Eun’s acting has become more pleasing to the viewers’ eyes.
One good thing about Son Na Eun is that she always takes supporting roles to improve her abilities, rather than working hard on the main role to gain fame while her acting is still limited. With the resources and relationships that YG has in the film industry, many good opportunities await the beauty of the Son family in the near future.
Yoo Seung Ho
As a star with good looks, ability and experience in acting since he was 6 years old, however, after the drama Ruler: Master Of The Mask in 2017, Yoo Seung Ho began to have problems choosing scripts, so the dramas he participated in kept failing. His currently airing drama When Flowers Bloom, I Think of the Moon had a promising start with a rating of 7.5%, but steadily dropped below 5% in its final episodes.
Yoo Seung Ho used to be an artist under BS Company and Story J Company. Recently, he did not renew with Story J but is very sought after by YG, it seems that the negotiation is going well and the two are going to the final stage to sign the contract.
If Yoo Seung Ho becomes an actor under YG, it will be a new milestone and a good opportunity for him to change his style, develop his career steadily and diversely because we all know how influential YG is. The male star born in 1993 only needs to have a good script to be able to have a resounding success, because he already possesses all the necessary elements to become famous.
Looking at the young actor lineup of YG Entertainment, it can be seen that they are slightly better than other “big guys” in the field of actor management like Namoo Actors or BH Entertainment. At this rate, the future of Korean movies will probably belong to the YG cast. Let’s hope the contract with Yoo Seung Ho goes well, and YG will be strengthened so that they can be a solid support for the young stars to develop further. Let’s wait for the final decision and official announcement from both sides.
