The most influential person in Thailand is BLACKPINK’s Lisa

According to a survey conducted by Suan Dusit University from December 20th to 27th, Lisa was named the most influential person in Thailand, with 28.1% of respondents choosing her.

World-renowned K-pop girl group BLACKPINK enjoys significant popularity in Thailand.

In particular, Lisa is treated as a national hero. Lisa’s every move attracts attention through media coverage and SNS.

Lisa’s mention of missing “meatball”, the street food from her hometown Buriram Province, led to a rapid increase in sales for street vendors. Additionally, the number of visitors to the tourist destination Ayutthaya spiked after Lisa posted photos on her SNS.

In this survey, which had 7,398 participants, the second most influential person was Pita Limjaroenrat, the former leader of the Move Forward Party (MFP), with 27.5%.

The rankings also included actor-broadcaster Kanchai Kamnerdploy (22.6%), Paetongtarn Shinawatra (12.4%), the leader of the Pheu Thai Party and daughter of former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, and Anntonia Porsild (9.4%), who ranked second in the 2023 Miss Universe competition.

Regarding significant events from the past year, 40.1% of respondents considered “Move Forward’s election victory” as the most significant, with 12.0% mentioning “May 14 general election”.

Other notable events from last year included “Anntonia Porsild winning first runner-up in the Miss Universe pageant” (17.6%), “Marriage Equality Bill approved by the House in the first reading” (15.3%) and “Siam Paragon shooting spree” (14.7%).

In response to the question about “the most outstanding male politician”, Pita Limjaroenrat led with 61.8%, showing a large gap with Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin (13.2%).

For “the most outstanding female politician”, Move Forward MP Sirikanya Tansakun took the top spot with 28.0%, while Pheu Thai leader Paetongtarn Shinawatra came in second with 24.2%.
