The most enticing couples in “Under the Queen’s Umbrella”: the lauded pair Seongnam and Cheongha showing early signs of breakup?
Whether good or evil, clearly defined or not, these relationships are taking the central place of the viewers’ attention.
Grand Prince Seongnam and Cheongha
Seongnam and Cheongha are the most loved couple of the series for their meet-cute during their first meet outside of the palace. At the time Cheongha lent Seongnam the money he needed to pay Master Toji. Cheongha later developed feelings for Seongnam without knowing his real identity. Through ups and downs, Cheongha became Seongnam’s wife, the new Crown Prince, overcoming her resentment for marriage.
Despite Cheongha’s contentment, Seongnam is nevertheless disappointed to learn of her real identity as the eldest girl of the Minister of War. The question now remains if their marriage can be happily ever after.
Consort Hwang and Physician Kwon
Consort Hwang and Physician Kwon have a shady relationship that is largely involved in the death of the late Crown Prince. In episode 10, it was revealed that Kwon actually treated Hwang with her digestive issues before working for the late Crown Prince.
As holder of many secrets, Hwang was the only person, and later including the Queen Dowager, that Euiseong was not King Lee Ho’s biological child. The unsolved mysteries remain the true relationship between Euiseong and Kwon as well as that of Kwon and Consort Hwang.
Grand Prince Muan and Chowol
Grand Prince Muan has a forbidden love with a Courtesan named Chowol. They crossed paths when the Prince helped her out of the hands of the evil men and became friends afterwards. Chowol purposefully hid her real feelings, fully aware of their difference and of her origin from the Courtesan House.
Yet Muan made a breakthrough when he confessed to Chowol only for Chowol to face the barrier of Queen Hwa-ryeong. Viewers will have to wait to see how this relationship turns out as the Queen joins in as another variable to their love line.
Queen Hwa Ryeong and King Lee Ho
No audience can deny the feelings King Lee Ho has for his Queen. The King’s subtle expression is enough to show how he adores the Queen. While he can be reluctant to face the Queen Dowager, it is Queen Hwa Ryeong’s strength and determination that helps the King to make his own actions.
Because of that, King Lee Ho is always on her side and trusts her judgment. He was satisfied when Hwang Ryeong found something wrong with the liquid used for examination in episode 11 and only punished her lightly as he knew the Queen only made mistakes when something was not right.
