“The King’s Affection” happy ending: Dami (Park Eun-bin) regained her status as a woman, living a happy married life with Jiwoon (Rowoon)
Lee Hwi (Park Eun-bin) is finally back to her real life as a woman, marrying Jung Ji-woon (Rowoon) and living a happy life.
The broadcast of KBS2’s Monday-Tuesday drama “The King’s Affection” aired on December 14th, depicted the fight between Lee Hwi (Park Eun-bin), Jung Ji-woon (Rowoon), and Lord Sangwon (Yoon Je-moon), Lord Sanwon (Kim Taek), who were behind the rebellion.
Seeing her beloved people continue to be killed, Lee Hwi made her decision, saying, “If I don’t step down from the throne, my grandfather will not stop his plan. I will try to persuade him”. People of Lee Hwi opposed her decision to cede the throne, saying, “No, Your Majesty. They barged in here to kill you. They cannot be reasoned with”. Lee Hwi responded, “I don’t want to watch my people die”. When Lee Hwi was left alone with Jung Ji-woon, she said, “I love you. From the day I met you, there has never been a moment that I have stopped loving you”, then she hugged Jiwoon affectionately. The two shed tears amidst the tragic situation.
During a private meeting with Lord Sangwon, Lee Hwi said, “I will give up the throne. I will do everything as you wish, so please stop making more sacrifices”. She continued with a calm voice, “I will hide the secret that I’m a woman and admit the crime of deceiving grandfather and my royal family.”
Lord Sangwon replied, “To be honest, ít’s not entirely your fault that you had become a king”, adding, “I committed the first mistake. I did not confirm with my own eyes whether you had died. And the second mistake was committed by my daughter, who was also your mother. In a way, you were a victim of all this. Your fate was determined by people around you regardless of your desires. Once you realized what had happened, you should have been obedient.”
He added, “Thus, the last mistake was made by you. And you are to blame for everything that has happened today”. Lee Hwi invited her grandfather for a cup of tea for the last time and Lord Sangwon suspected him. Both drank the tea, and Lee Hwi said, “I’m glad that we can die together. The tea you just drank has been poisoned. It’s the poison you used to kill my father. Come with me”. Lee Hwi spilled blood and Lord Sangwon also died.
Jung Ji-woon comforted Lee Hwi while she was falling down. Lee Hwi regained her consciousness after dreaming of having a wedding with Jung Ji-woon. Jung Ji-woon shed tears after reporting to her about Lord Sangwon, saying, “Everything is over. You don’t have to worry anymore.”
Lee Hyun (Nam Yoon-soo) ascended the throne. Lee Hwi wanted to be punished properly, but she was only sentenced to punishment at the request of her servants. Lee Hwi revived her status as a woman and confidently stood in front of Jung Ji-woon as Dami again.
