“The Childe” director on Kim Seon Ho’s controversy, “I couldn’t make up my mind to find another actor”

Director Park Hoon Jung revealed why he cast Kim Seon Ho for “The Childe”, despite the latter’s controversy.

Director Park Hoon Jung told various stories in an interview for the movie “The Childe” held at a cafe in Sogyeok-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul on the morning of June 30th.

Director Park Hoon Jung mentioned that he worked with Kim Seon Ho in “The Childe” as well as his next film “Tyrant”. He said, “Actually, I spend a lot of time for the casting process. After writing a scenario, I tend to look for an actor who fits it.”

As for the reason why he decided to continue working with Kim Seon Ho, he honestly confessed, “After casting, Kim Seon Ho’s problem broke out, and there were reports that he would drop out of other films, but I didn’t think about that. At the time, my position was to wait and see’. Of course, I can’t help but worry, but I couldn’t make up my mind to find another actor.”

Director Park Hoon Jung, who returned with a new work a year after “The Witch: Part 2. The Other One”, talked about casting Kim Seon Ho for the role of “Nobleman” (Childe), “There was no alternative other than Kim Seon Ho when I thought of this character.“

Looking back on working with Kim Seon Ho through “The Childe”, director Park Hoon Jung praised, “He fit so well with what I thought. He’s never participated in a movie before, but there were many noticeable parts. As an actor, energy and feeling are important, right? Kim Seon Ho did better than I thought.”

“The Childe” is an action movie that tells the story of various forces, including an unidentified male ghost, appearing in front of Marco, a boxer with a complicated past. It is showing in theaters nationwide.
