The best villain portrayals by Korean actors who always play nice characters (ft. Kim Yoo Jung, Hyun Bin, and more)

All having the visuals that are well-suited for playing good guys, these Korean actors prove they can still nail evil roles.

It’s not unusual for actors to transform into different types of roles, but in some cases, their appearances seem so nice that it’s difficult for them to change their image. Even so, they still decided to take the risk to transform themselves and achieve certain success with their villain performances.

1. Park Bo Gum

Before being famous for his dreamy image as a handsome and warm male lead, Park Bo Gum once took on a challenging “half-villain” role. The reason it is called half-villain is because in Hello Monster, Park Bo Gum’s character originally had a good heart, but was raised by a psychopathic killer. Lacking affection and suffering from mental illness, this character eventually turns into a devil.

2. Kim Yoo Jung

Having a soft and adorable appearance, Kim Yoo Jung is always famous for her innocent and kindhearted roles. Few viewers would expect Kim Yoo Jung to have played a villain when she was only 14 years old. In the movie Elegant Lies, Kim Yoo Jung portrays a devil disguised as an angel, a schoolgirl looking cheerful and friendly on the outside but actually has a dark soul. She is a bully who is behind the mysterious death of her schoolmates.

3. Lee Jong Suk

His flawless and boyish visuals can make many viewers think that Lee Jong Suk will forever stick to playing the hero, male protagonists with a neat, elegant appearance and loyal, nice personalities. However, in 2017, Lee Jong Suk took on his first-ever villain role of a perverted murderer who sees killing as a hobby in V.I.P. In the movie, Lee Jong Suk repeatedly gives the audience goosebumps with his creepy smile and smirk.

4. Hyun Bin

Similar to Park Bo Gum, Hyun Bin has a face that seems too nice to play the bad guy. But in the crime thriller Negotiation, his first project with Son Ye Jin, Hyun Bin plays a villain for the first time in his career. In order to transform into a weapons smuggler and cold-blooded killer, Hyun Bin grew out his beard, had long hair and made himself look much older than his real age. However, many viewers still think even when playing a devilish character, Hyun Bin still looks good as usual.
