Singer-actress Halle Bailey, who plays Ariel in Disney’s new live-action film “The Little Mermaid”, expressed her feelings about the release of “The Little Mermaid” trailer.
On September 21st (local time), Halle Bailey released a Q&A video on her Youtube channel “Halle” and directly answered fans’ questions.

She continued, “This last week has been super super busy for me and I’ve seen all of your messages. I just want to say ‘thank you so much for all the positivity and well wishes to me’. I’m so excited if you guys can come along with me on this journey and it’s a beautiful thing, which is gonna happen next year”.
While answering various questions, Halle also mentioned the casting of “The Little Mermaid”. She said, “I think just seeing the reactions is already making me happy about this opportunity”, adding “I know what it would have meant to me as a little girl to have been able to see a black Ariel when I was younger. If I would have seen that, it would have changed my whole outlook on life. So the fact that I’m getting to do that is really cool and unbelievable to me.”
Regarding the “Mermaid meme” with her picture that is circulating on the Internet, Halle answered coolly, “Yes, I’ve seen all the memes and honestly I laughed a lot because they’re quite hilarious to me. But it’s also really cool that people care this much and I’m just super grateful to be a part of this whole monumental movement”.
A fan mentioned the reaction of black children when they saw the trailer of “The Little Mermaid” and asked, “How do you feel knowing that you’ve inspired the whole new generation of brown skin girls to dream big and strive to become whatever they aspire to be?”.
Halle responded, “It’s a crazy feeling to see all of the babies’ reactions to just the trailer. It’s really overwhelming. I’ve just been crying seeing all the videos that you all have been sending me.”
