The 30th Screen Actors Guild Awards Paid Tribute To The Late Lee Sun-kyun

SAG paid tribute to the late Lee Sun-kyun by selecting him as the winner of the Ensemble Award.

The 30th Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards ceremony was held in Los Angeles on February 24th (local time). SAG is the world’s largest actors’ union, and this ceremony awards the best actors in movies and dramas.

This year’s ceremony spared some time to pay tribute to the late actor Lee Sun-kyun. A video clip was shown with the title “IN MEMORIAM,” in which many late Hollywood actors, including Lee, were mentioned. The ceremony edited Lee Sun-kyun’s scene from the movie “Parasite” to remember the late actor.

Earlier, Lee Sun-kyun, along with the cast of “Parasite,” was selected as the winner of the “Outstanding Performance by a Cast (or Ensemble)” Motion Picture category at the 26th Screen Actors Guild Awards held in 2020. The category is an award in which all leading and supporting actors in a film are selected as winners. At the awards ceremony, Song Kang-ho, Choi Woo-sik, Park So-dam, Lee Jung-eun, and Lee Sun-kyun were on stage together to receive standing ovations from Hollywood actors.

Actress Naomi Watts, the presenter at this year’s ceremony, took to the stage to mourn Lee and the other late actors, saying, “Their memory will live on our recollections and the precious time that we shared together. And through their work, their performances captured in countless frames of images, ever ready to dance across the screen and come to life again, if only for a while.”
