The Thai government praises Blackpink’s Thai member, Lisa, for promoting Thailand and contributing to the national economy.

According to the Bangkok Post on the 11th, Anucha Burapachaisri, the government spokesperson, stated that Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha highly appreciated Lisa’s efforts in showcasing Thailand through wearing traditional Thai costumes and engaging in various activities, expressing her pride as a Thai.

Ayutthaya, located in northern Bangkok, served as the capital of the Ayutthaya Kingdom for over 400 years and is home to numerous UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

Recently, Lisa posted a photo wearing a traditional Thai fabric outfit taken in Ayutthaya on her social media. Global fans showed interest in the places Lisa visited and the traditional costumes, which helped boost the local economy, as explained by the Thai government.

Spokesperson Anucha stated, “When Lisa visits, it injects vitality into the local economy,” and added, “Ayutthaya has seen an increase in tourists, and local retail businesses have also experienced a rise in sales.”

With the buzz surrounding Lisa’s Ayutthaya photos, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) created a tour package that includes visiting temples and sites where Lisa had been. In April, a research team in Thailand even named a newly discovered plant species after Lisa.

Meanwhile, Blackpink started their Asia World Tour in Bangkok in January, and last month, on the 27th and 28th, they held additional concerts at the Bangkok Rajamangala National Stadium, the largest venue in Thailand.
