BIGBANG Taeyang disclosed his love story with his wife, actress Min Hyo Rin, on the tvN program “You Quiz on the Block”.
On April 26th, BIGBANG Taeyang appeared on the tvN entertainment show “You Quiz on the Block”, and opened up about his love story with his wife Min Hyo Rin.
According to Taeyang, he had no dating experience at all when he released his hit song “Only Look at Me” in 2008, saying, “I was too young and had no time or opportunity for dating as I spent my time as a trainee.”
Then, in response to MC Yoo Jae Suk’s remark that many people would have tried to contact him, Taeyang said, “There were people who asked for my actual phone number, but I didn’t even know what it meant. Since I had no such experience, I just gave out my number when asked and responded when contacted, but I never actually met them.”
In February 2018, Taeyang married Min Hyo Rin, who he first met at the filming site for the music video of “1AM”. Taeyang recalled, “We needed to cast a female lead for the music video urgently, and Min Hyo Rin was suggested by those around me. I contacted her through an acquaintance, but I didn’t think she would accept the offer since we were in a hurry. Surprisingly, she willingly agreed.”
Taeyang then expressed his gratitude by having a meal with Min Hyo Rin. He said, “We had a great conversation. Since I had no dating experience, talking to the opposite sex could have been uncomfortable, but she led the conversation so naturally without any awkwardness. After we said goodbye, I contacted her again because I wanted to meet her again.”
The BIGBANG member also added, “The more we met, the more I liked her. I thought to myself, ‘I want to marry this person.'”
Afterwards, Taeyang revealed that his hit song “Eyes, Nose, Lips” was created during a brief breakup with Min Hyo Rin. He explained, “I was so busy and barely had any time in Korea because I was on a world tour. I didn’t know much about relationships since I had no dating experience. I think Min Hyo Rin might have felt frustrated because of that. During that time apart, I made ‘Eyes, Nose, Lips’ to express my longing for her.“
In the end, Taeyang reunited with Min Hyo Rin after the release of “Eyes, Nose, Lips”. “I told her that ‘this song expresses my feelings’, and she really loved it”, he confessed.
