2PM member and actor Ok Taecyeon made a memorable special appearance in SBS’s hit Friday-Saturday drama Agent Kim Reactivated, leaving viewers impressed despite his limited screen time.
The July 4 broadcast (Episode 4) featured Taecyeon as Park Young Gwang, a former elite secret agent who trained alongside Kim Do Hyeon (played by So Ji Sub) during their youth.
Park Young Gwang was introduced as someone who grew up with Kim Do Hyeon at the Geumgang Orphanage in North Korea. Determined to become a member of the national sports team, he endured brutal life-or-death training alongside Kim Do Hyeon. Initially portrayed as Kim Do Hyeon’s talented rival, the two eventually forged an unbreakable friendship while surviving the harsh environment together. However, during a mission, Park Young Gwang was caught in a trap and met a tragic end, providing emotional depth to Kim Do Hyeon’s backstory.
Although his appearance was brief, Taecyeon impressed viewers with his convincing action performance and natural North Korean dialect. Following the episode, fans flooded social media with positive reactions, writing comments such as: “Taecyeon in military uniform is priceless” and “Taecyeon completely stole the episode.” His performance quickly became one of the episode’s most talked-about highlights.
According to Nielsen Korea, Episode 4 of Agent Kim Reactivated recorded an impressive 21.6% nationwide household rating, continuing the drama’s remarkable upward trajectory. With strong word-of-mouth driving viewership, Taecyeon’s surprise appearance added even more excitement to the already popular series.
Taecyeon married his non-celebrity longtime girlfriend in April after dating for more than a decade. Far from slowing down after becoming a newlywed, the actor has remained active across multiple projects. He recently reunited with his fellow 2PM members for the group’s 15th Japanese debut anniversary concert, while also earning praise for portraying boxer Johan in the Japanese Netflix series Soulmate.
