Style Disappointments: Um Jung-hwa, Lee Yeon-hee, Lim Bo-ra, Gong Seung-yeon

The ‘Y Ranking’ corner, where YTN Entertainment reporters review stars’ fashion for the week, has returned. This week, there weren’t any standout “best” or “worst” fashions, but there were quite a few “bad” outfits, indicating a somewhat disappointing ranking. Although singer Um Jung-hwa usually boasts a unique fashion sense, this time she disappointed with a style that landed her in the hall of shame. Actors Lee Yeon-hee, Lim Bo-ra, and Gong Seung-yeon also recorded lower rankings together.

◆ Um Jung-hwa

Reporter Kang Nae-ri: From a distance, it might not look too bad due to the black color, but upon closer inspection, each item for the premiere outfit feels overly burdensome. The torn-like, chewy charm is an error.

Reporter Gong Young-joo: Um Jung-hwa, with her petite figure, appears unbalanced and mismatched with the extreme oversized look, resembling wearing her father’s clothes. The all-black from head to toe further weighed down the atmosphere.

Um Jung-hwa

Reporter Kim Sung-hyun: The oversized fit that covers the wrists is somewhat regrettable, but the combination of a black outer and black turtleneck wasn’t a bad choice. However, matching a black skirt with ambiguous cuts and lines with black knee-high boots made it excessive. While all-black could have provided a simple and clean feeling, it ended up being too focused on the concept.

Reporter Oh Ji-won: The styling direction of adding a gold accent to all-black suited the sophisticated Um Jung-hwa well. However, the drooping shoulders in the oversized fit are quite disappointing.

Reporter Choi Bo-ran: It’s not easy to fail with all-black, but the fit is crucial. Overall chic, but the drooping shoulders undermine Um Jung-hwa’s charisma.

◆ Lee Yeon-hee

Reporter Kang Nae-ri: Overall, it looks okay, but the slightly folded sleeve lining color feels too tacky. It would have been better to either remove the scarf around the neck or fold the sleeve lining to hide it.

Reporter Gong Young-joo: The purple accent at the end of the sleeves seems out of place, making it worse rather than better. Although the combination with light gray tones and jeans was safe and calmly wearable, the unnecessary fluorescent purple led it to be considered “bad.”

Lee Yeon-hee

Reporter Kim Sung-hyun: An outer with a noticeable purple accent and neatly fitted jeans. Each item individually seems ordinary yet stylish, but ultimately, the combination feels like a failure. It gives off a strangely tacky impression, with each item feeling disconnected rather than synergizing.

Reporter Oh Ji-won: Overall, it seems to aim for a casual direction, but the scarf alone makes it look outdated.

Reporter Choi Bo-ran: It seems harmonious yet disjointed. Each item appears ordinary, but putting them together gives a feeling of separation. The purple accent and the scarf somehow make it look outdated.

◆ Lim Bo-ra

Reporter Kang Nae-ri: The exposed belly button design on the knitwear overshadows all other styling. Amidst this, the wide-legged denim creates an illusion of shorter legs, resulting in a regrettable styling.

Reporter Gong Young-joo: From the oddly wide-legged jeans that ambiguously shape the legs to the bizarre knitwear that grabs attention, it’s a total disaster.

Lim Bo-ra

Reporter Kim Sung-hyun: It seems like she wanted to showcase a naturally charming yet not overly decorated style, but it looks far from natural. The knitwear with only the belly button exposed is neither cute nor charming, and the excessively wide-legged denim fails to evoke any emotions.

Reporter Oh Ji-won: Such a design with the exposed belly button risks looking comical.

Reporter Choi Bo-ran: Due to the subtle positioning of the cut, nothing else is visible, and attention is solely focused on one spot. The wide-legged bottoms with a long length covering even the shoes are also not in harmony.

◆ Gong Seung-yeon

Reporter Kang Nae-ri: A warm knit suitable for winter, and pants with a retro vibe that’s currently trending, but putting these two items together couldn’t be more awkward. Since the knit hides the body shape, it would have been better to match it with ordinary-fit jeans or shorts.

Reporter Gong Young-joo: Although it maintains a calm atmosphere, it lacks impact. It’s regrettable that there’s no “sparkling” point, like adding a bag or shoes with some shine.

Gong Seung-yeon

Reporter Kim Sung-hyun: A ‘colorless’ and ‘bland’ outfit comes to mind. It’s clean and simple, but it’s hard to say it exudes any charm. It’s unfortunate that there’s nothing to catch the eye.

Reporter Oh Ji-won: Simple and without clutter, but it feels somewhat empty due to the lack of a focal point.

Reporter Choi Bo-ran: It seems more suited for going to the office than for a premiere. If the intention was to avoid standing out, then it’s successful. The lack of any color accents makes it dull, and with both top and bottom being oversized, it looks bulky.
