Starship staff left ambiguous comments about NewJeans while praising IVE?

An individual suspected to be affiliated with Starship sparked controversy by leaving ambiguous comments on NewJeans’ photos.

On July 12th, various online communities spread posts related to an alleged Starship representative.

In the posts, there is an accompanying photo of a woman commenting “Hmm…” on a magazine cover photo of NewJeans member Minji. This woman also drew attention by leaving ‘ambiguous’ comments like “Hmm… Hmm…” on photos featuring other NewJeans members.

However, this woman left heart emojis and and praising comments on pictorial photos of IVE members Ahn Yujin and Rei, saying respectively, “My first meeting with Yujin was so pretty,” and “Well done, well done, everyone did well, but Rei did the best job.”

Furthermore, she directly posted a video of Jang Wonyoung‘s pictorial and left comments like “My love, Jang Wonyoung” and “Let’s be together forever.”

From a typical “fan perspective”, each comment seems harmless. However, controversies arise from the fact that this woman is identified as a staff member of IVE’s agency, Starship Entertainment.

In particular, she openly shared her own photos on her Instagram account, along with descriptions such as “Starship Entertainment. Advertising. Photography.”

The netizen who posted this topic also emphasized, “She left comments like ‘Hmm… Hm…’ on photos of NewJeans’ pictorials, while praising the posts of affiliated celebrities,” adding, “This person confidently stated in her profile that she is affiliated with Starship. Currently, she has deleted the comments and made her account private.”

Upon seeing this topic, netizens show mixed reactions. Below are some comments from netizens:

  • IVE is also a prominent group, but if a company employee leaves comments like that towards a rival, it’s obvious they are opening check
  • Why is she openly doing this with her own account?
  • IVE is doing well too, I see no point to actions like these
  • Obviously, such behavior should not be tolerated
  • If she just stayed quiet, it would have been fine
