Stars Who Went To Court Instead Of Broadcasts In 2023: Nam Tae-hyun, Kim Sae-ron And More

First of all, Don Spike was arrested on charges of storing and administering drugs at a motel in Gangnam and sentenced to two years in prison by the Supreme Court in September last year. He admitted to all the charges but filed an appeal because he disagreed with the two-year imprisonment. However, the Supreme Court refused it and confirmed the sentence.

Former WINNER member Nam Tae-hyun and “Heart Signal” cast member Seo Min-jae, his ex-lover, also caused a big stir with their drug case. Earlier in August, Seo Min-jae surprised everyone when she suddenly posted on SNS exposing Nam Tae-hyun of taking drugs. The police decided to launch an investigation after receiving reports from netizens. The two were accused of purchasing and taking methamphetamine through Telegram. The prosecution demanded 2-year imprisonment and 1.5-year imprisonment for Nam Tae-hyun and Seo Min-jae, respectively. The two admitted to their wrongdoings and asked for leniency. The sentencing hearing is scheduled for February 18th.

Kim Sae-ron shocked everyone when she caused a drunk driving accident in May. The young actress hit trees, guard rails and transformers on the streets while driving under the influence of alcohol in Cheongdam-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul. Later in trial, she appealed for leniency, claiming that she had been struggling financially. However, Kim Sae-ron was controversial again when she was spotted at drinking parties and holdem bars. Singer Eru was also embroiled in a drunk driving case. He was caught drunk driving once in September 2022 and repeated the crime in December of the same year. He made an official apology for driving under the alcohol several times and asked for leniency from the court, emphasizing that his mother needed care because she had dementia. In June last year, the Seoul Western District Court sentenced him to six months in prison, 1 year of probation and a fine of 100,000 won, but the prosecution is against the ruling.

Sexual harassment and military service evasion were also hot topics last year. In August, rapper Gucci Ice was sentenced to one year in prison for filming and distributing illegal videos and he accepted the ruling without filing an appeal. B.A.P’s Himchan, who had been on trial for three sex crimes, was imprisoned for 10 months. 

Rapper Ravi, Nafla and actor Song Deok-ho were harshly criticized for their military service corruption. The three were found to have earned military service exemption by faking medical examination reports through a broker. Later in October, Ravi was sentenced to one year in prison and two years of probation. Nafla and Song Deok-ho were also imprisoned.
