On March 10, Soyou appeared in a video uploaded to the YouTube channel “Alttalttal Commentary,” where she spoke with actor Ahn Jae Hyun, comedian Heo Kyung Hwan, and singer Muzie. During the episode, Soyou revealed a life graph chart showing that her life remained in the negative zone until the age of 20.

After seeing the graph, Ahn Jae Hyun commented, “This is the first time I’ve seen a life graph that stays negative until someone turns 20.” Soyou responded by saying, “It was really hard.” The singer went on to share that her family struggled financially when she was growing up. “My family had a very difficult situation. I was also a basic livelihood security recipient,” she said.

Soyou explained that she received medical aid benefits during that time. “Whenever I went to the hospital, the cost was always 1,500 won, and at the pharmacy it was always 500 won,” she said, referring to the support she received under the Type 2 medical aid program.

She also recalled a burglary that occurred at her home when she was in middle school. “We were already struggling, and then our house was robbed when I was in middle school. It happened because of me,” Soyou said. According to the singer, she often lost her house key and sometimes climbed through the window to enter her home to avoid getting scolded by her mother. “I lost my key often, so I climbed through the window to get into the house many times,” she explained.

Soyou added that when the police and the National Forensic Service investigated the case, they suggested that the burglar might have seen her entering the house through the window and used that information to break in.

Soyou debuted as a member of SISTAR in 2010 and later built a successful career as a solo singer following the group’s disbandment.
