On April 21, the first trial hearing for Song Mino was held at the Seoul Western District Court. Appearing in a black suit, he addressed reporters briefly before entering the courtroom.
“I am reflecting on my actions. I sincerely apologize for disappointing many people, and I will diligently participate in the trial,” he stated.
His short but direct apology marked his first public response since the controversy escalated.
Song Mino is accused of violating the Military Service Act during his time as a public service worker (social service agent).
Between March 2023 and December 2024, he served at facilities under the Mapo District in Seoul. However, he allegedly:
- Frequently failed to report to duty citing sick leave or vacation
- Left his workplace during assigned hours
- Did not fulfill required service responsibilities
The controversy intensified shortly before his discharge, leading to a police investigation.
Reports indicate that Song Mino has largely admitted to the allegations during police questioning, further drawing public scrutiny.
