Song Joong-ki’s Film ‘Hwaran’ Attracts 30,000 Viewers But Fails To Surpass ‘Love Reset’ On Box Office Chart

“Hwaran” gained over 30,000 viewers on the release day and placed No.2 on the daily box office chart

According to the Korean Film Council’s Korean Box Office Information System on October 12th, “Hwaran” (director Kim Chang-hoon) entered the box office chart in second place with 31,843 viewers.

“Hwaran” tells about Yeon-gyu (Hong Xa-bin), a boy who wants to escape from the hellish reality, meeting Chi-geon (Song Joong-ki), the middle boss of a gang, and getting entangled in the world of crime. The movie was officially invited to the 76th Cannes Film Festival and received favorable reviews. “Hwaran” team also greeted Korean audiences through the screening at the 25th Busan International Film Festival.

Hopeless confirmed its theatrical release on October 11th

Ranking No.1 on the box office chart, “Love Reset (also known as ‘30 Days’)” (director Nam Dae-jung) depicts the comedy centering on Jung-yeol (Kang Ha-neul) and Na-ra (Jung So-min) suffering from amnesia due to an unexpected accident 30 days before the end of their marriage as they could no longer understand each other. The movie attracted 41,285 viewers on the same day. Its cumulative number of audience has reached 855,911.

3rd place went to “Miss Fortune” (director Lee Seung-joon), starring Uhm Jung hwa. This movie premiered on the 11th and has been watched by 13,118 audiences. “Miss Fortune” is a crime comedy film in which Ji-hye (Uhm Jung-hwa), a professional operative who is in charge of bright technology, gets caught up in an unexpected accident while doing her last big plan. 

The 4th and 5th places were “Dr. Cheon and Lost Talisman” (director Kim Sung-sik) and “1947 Boston” (director Kang Je-gyu), which recorded around 10,000 viewers each.
