Actor Song Joong Ki has opened up about how his wife Katy Louise Saunders and their two children have transformed his life, calling this the happiest period he has ever experienced.

On September 10, Song appeared on Naraesik alongside his My Youth co-star Chun Woo Hee, where host Park Na Rae treated the guests to a homemade Korean meal. Having just returned from months abroad, Song admitted he had intentionally avoided Korean food until the show, saying, “It’s my first Korean meal in months, and I wanted to save the moment. I’ve been back for a week but didn’t eat any Korean food until today.”

The conversation later turned to family and life milestones. Song, who married former actress Katy in January 2023, welcomed a son in June of that year and a daughter in November of last year. Reflecting on his current stage of life, he said:

“People say youth is the prime of life, but I think the true bloom of life is when you feel happiest. I’ve never been happier than I am now.”

He continued:

“With a family, I feel a healthy sense of responsibility. I’ve gained a bit of inner strength to handle it, and the idea of being responsible for someone fills me with excitement and motivation. I’ve also become more grateful for the small details in daily life.”

During the program, both Song Joong Ki and Chun Woo Hee also reflected on their careers and personal journeys, sharing stories of youthful struggles, academic setbacks, and how they eventually found their paths in acting. While Chun Woo Hee described her thirties as a period of newfound direction, Song emphasized that his current joy stems not only from his career but also from his role as a husband and father.

As My Youth premiered on JTBC, Song Joong Ki balances his busy acting schedule with family life, a balance he now considers the most meaningful part of his journey.
