song il kook triplets update

On the May 19 broadcast of KBS2’s Morning Forum, Song Il Kook appeared alongside actor Oh Man Seok to promote their musical Haig.

During the show, Song Il Kook revealed that the once-beloved “triplets” are now second-year middle school students.

“They’re in eighth grade now. That terrifying eighth-grade age,” he joked, referencing Korea’s well-known phrase surrounding teenage puberty and mood swings.

The actor then shared a funny story from the night before the broadcast. “I was reading my script yesterday when one of the triplets came to me. I told him I had filming the next day, and he immediately said, ‘Please don’t talk about me on TV,’” Song Il Kook recalled.

He initially hesitated to reveal which son it was, joking that it would cause chaos if he exposed him publicly. However, after realizing the boys would be at school during the broadcast, he eventually admitted it was Song Minguk.

“All three of them are sensitive these days, but Minguk is especially sensitive,” he explained. “Even when I want to upload photos on social media, I have to ask, ‘Minguk, can I post this picture?’ If he’s in a good mood, he reluctantly agrees.”

He added with laughter, “The kids I used to know are gone. Completely different people have arrived.”

Song Il Kook also surprised viewers by revealing just how much the triplets have grown physically.

“They’re taller than me now,” he shared. “I’m not short myself, but Daehan is 186 cm, Minguk is 183 cm, and Manse is 180 cm.”

Oh Man Seok chimed in jokingly, saying, “When they came to watch the musical, I thought a basketball team had entered the theater.”

The actor further confessed that raising teenagers has become a form of “mirror therapy,” making him reflect on his own past behavior toward his parents.

“There are moments when curses rise all the way to my throat, but I can’t say anything,” he admitted humorously. “I think I’m receiving triple payback for everything I put my mother through when I was younger.”

He concluded by saying that he now calls his mother more often than before because parenting has helped him understand her perspective.

“Through my kids, I’m seeing my own past,” he said.
