Son Seok-gu quietly announced a new start “The news delivered late”

It was reported exclusively by My Daily on Feb 5th that Son Seok-gu established a content production company.

According to the report, Son Seok-gu, who parted ways with his former agency SBD Entertainment last year, founded a production company earlier this year with a former financial director from SBD. The manager who worked with him at his previous agency will continue their relationship as an agent.

The company is named Stannum, and it completed its business registration on Jan 2nd. The office is located in Samseong-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul.

An industry insider told My Daily, “Instead of establishing a one-man agency, Son Seok-gu chose to establish a production company. He plans to focus on director and writer contracts in the future.”

Another industry insider stated, “Son Seok-gu is not only interested in acting but also in content. He seems to have come up with another plan as a producer.

While there have been several cases of artists establishing one-man agencies after their exclusive contracts expire and continuing their activities as CEO-artists, it is rare for them to become producers.

Son Seok-gu is known to have put a lot of thought into this decision.

A management official said, “Son Seok-gu started acting in Korea, but he had been living abroad for a long time and has been thinking about management. The name ‘Son Seok-gu’ itself has become a brand. Now, there are many works coming to him rather than him searching for works. It seems that he has chosen to continue active activities through an agent contract with the trusted manager rather than feeling burdened by running a one-man agency.”

Son Seok-gu, who dreamed of becoming a documentary director in his youth, studied filmmaking at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in the United States and debuted in 2016 with the film “Black Stone”.

Since then, he has showcased his acting skills in works such as “Kidnapping Assemblyman Mr. Clean”, “Sense8 Season 2”, “Mother”, “Be Melodramatic”, “Matrimonial Chaos”, “Designated Survivor: 60 Days”, “D.P.”, “My Liberation Notes”, “The Roundup” and “Big Bet”. He also revealed his directorial talent in the film “Unframed”.

He will meet domestic and international fans through Netflix’s original drama “A Killer Paradox”, scheduled to be released on Feb 9th.
