On the March 29 broadcast of Heo Young Man’s Food Travel, Son Dam Bi appeared as a guest and opened up about her life with refreshing honesty. During the episode, she and host Heo Young Man visited Gil-dong in Gangdong-gu, Seoul her hometown and enjoyed a meal together.

Heo Young Man asked, “Until when did you go to school in Gil-dong?” When Son Dam Bi replied that she attended elementary, middle, and high school there, he brought up her standout looks, joking, “Weren’t male students lining up in front of your school gate after classes just to see you?”

Recalling the past, Son Dam Bi said, “I went to an all-girls school, but boys from nearby schools would come during festivals,” adding, “Some even waited at the village bus stop.” Her story proved just how popular she was at the time. However, she also revealed her mother’s strict parenting style, saying, “My mom was really strict. She even cut my hair short with scissors basically shaved it. My curfew was 6 p.m., but who actually goes home at 6?”

Her mother’s strictness didn’t stop with her. The boys who lingered near her house hoping to see her also faced consequences.

Son Dam Bi added, “The boys who waited for me had a hard time too. My mom would splash water on them and yell. She was quite famous in Gil-dong. I went through a really tough middle and high school life.”

Meanwhile, Son Dam Bi debuted in 2007 with “Cry Eye” and gained popularity with hit songs like “Crazy” and “On A Saturday Night.” She later transitioned into acting in 2009, appearing in dramas such as Dream, Lights and Shadows, Mrs. Cop 2, and When the Camellia Blooms.

In 2022, she married former speed skating national team member Lee Kyou-hyuk, and in April 2025, the couple welcomed their daughter.
