Sojang refuses to admit wrongdoing “Apply for execution stay of the Jang Won-young lawsuit’s outcome”

On Jan 17th, Starship Entertainment officially mentioned the civil lawsuit filed by Jang Won-young against the “Sojang” channel, stating, “The opponent didn’t respond, leading to a default judgment.” Jang Won-young filed a 100 million won damage compensation lawsuit against A, the operator of the “Sojang” channel, in October 2023. The lawsuit was filed with the court in October 2023. After the court requested a response from the defendant and they did not respond, the court considered it as acknowledgment, leading to a judgment in favor of Jang Won-young without a trial.

However, on Jan 17th, A submitted an appeal against the judgment through legal representation. After the submission of the appeal, A, who had been silent, eventually responded, stating that they cannot acknowledge the results, leading to the case moving to the appellate court.

Subsequently, it was confirmed that A applied for an enforcement stay of the lawsuit results on Jan 23rd.

Typically, if the defendant files an appeal within 2 weeks after receiving the judgment document, the judgment is not finalized. However, when there is a provisional execution, the creditor can execute enforcement based on the enforcement order, even if the judgment is not finalized due to an appeal, temporarily halting it through an enforcement stay application.

Ultimately, the “Sojang” channel is showing its determination not to accept the strong legal response from Jang Won-young and Starship, and it will await further court decisions.
