In the 9th and 10th episodes of “Dr. Romantic 3”, the main story centered around a collapsed building in a redevelopment area. Seo Woo Jin (Ahn Hyo Seop) headed straight to the accident scene right after receiving the orange code, which announces mass casualties, even though it was his day off.

According to the principles of disaster response, it is important that the medical team has to stay calm when making any judgment. However, Seo Woo Jin couldn’t ignore the survivors trapped inside the building. In particular, after hearing the story of a teacher who suffered severe injuries while trying to evacuate students, Seo Woo Jin believed that the patients wouldn’t be able to wait until they could all be rescued and made the risky decision of entering the collapsed building.

Seo Woo Jin and Park Eun Tak (Kim Min Jae) quickly provided emergency treatment and safely evacuated the students outside. However, a second collapse occurred, and they were trapped inside the building with two unconscious patients and rescue team members. During the collapse, Seo Woo Jin tried to protect a patient and was severely injured when a steel bar pierced through his hand and wrists

After learning about the situation, Kim Sa Bu (Han Suk Kyu) personally headed to the scene and confirmed that the steel beam had penetrated not only Seo Woo Jin’s hand but also the patient’s abdomen. In order to save the patient’s life, they needed to remove the steel bar from Seo Woo Jin’s wrist. In the end, Seo Woo Jin willingly endured the pain and sacrificed his own hand to save the patient.
