On July 1, the YouTube channel “Ha Ji-young” uploaded a video titled “Now It’s Manager Kim’s Era! A Blockbuster Interview START.” In the interview, So Ji-sub appeared as a guest and spoke with host Ha Ji-young about his latest project as well as his everyday life.

When Ha Ji-young commented that he must be approaching this project with a different mindset, So Ji-sub shared, “I play a father with a high school-aged child. It’s my first time playing a dad.” He is currently starring in the SBS Friday-Saturday drama Agent Kim Reactivated, where he plays Manager Kim, the head of an accounting team at a savings bank and the father of a teenage daughter.

So Ji-sub admitted that he was personally curious about portraying a father. “It was my first time, so I wondered whether the role would suit me and whether I had pulled it off well,” he said.

Speaking about being called “ajusshi” (middle-aged man), he explained, “I’ve been hearing that since I'm Sorry, I Love You, so I’m used to it. It’s been 21 years, so it doesn’t feel awkward anymore. But in the drama, hearing my on-screen daughter constantly call me ‘Dad’ felt a little strange at first.”

Ha Ji-young then asked whether he really spends time in the kitchen like his character, who is often seen wearing an apron and cooking. So Ji-sub replied, “I do a lot. Whenever I have time, I take care of various household chores.” He added, “I lived alone for a long time, so I know how to cook all the basic dishes.”

Born in 1977, So Ji-sub debuted as an exclusive model for STORM in 1995 before becoming one of Korea’s most beloved actors through hit dramas including Something Happened in Bali, I’m Sorry, I Love You, Phantom, Master’s Sun, Oh My Venus, My Secret Terrius, and Doctor Lawyer.

The actor married former announcer Cho Eun-jung, who is 17 years younger than him, in 2020. The couple does not have children.
