SM’s 5th Gen Rookie Boy Group Set to Debut in September

SM’s new boy group is scheduled to be launched this September.

According to Sports Chosun on July 12, SM’s rookie boy group is actively preparing for their debut in September. They are currently shooting their debut MV in Los Angeles.

SM’s upcoming rookie boy group includes Sungchan and Shotaro, who previously debuted in NCT, as well as Eunseok and Seunghan, who were introduced through SM Rookies.

Sungchan, Shotaro, Eunseok, and Seunghan already gained significant popularity among fans with their performance of “Outro: Dream Routine” at SM Town concerts held at Suwon World Cup Stadium and Tokyo Dome in Japan last year. Despite it being before their official debut, their performance was impressive. That’s why they are already regarded as ‘highly anticipated rookie male idols’ among K-pop fans.

What draws attention the most is that this is a rookie boy group that SM has put a lot of effort into. Launching a new boy group is a rare occurrence for SM as it has been approximately seven years since NCT’s debut in 2016. Although NCT U, NCT 127, NCT Dream debuted in 2016 and WayV debuted in 2019, they are all part of the NCT brand.

Therefore, SM introducing a new boy group that is not part of NCT after a long time stimulates the curiosity of K-pop fans worldwide. Moreover, there is great anticipation from the public. SM’s next boy group is also expected to usher in the era of the 5th gen of K-pop idols and actively engage in activities at its core.
