SHINee member Key has officially returned to the public eye six months after suspending activities due to the so-called “Injection Aunt” controversy involving allegations of illegal medical practices.

At midnight on May 11, SHINee released a new schedule film for their upcoming sixth mini album “Atmos” through the group’s official channels. In the teaser, Key appeared as a weathercaster, previewing the group’s long-awaited June comeback.

The idol immediately drew attention with his striking visual transformation, sporting short blonde hair and silver nose accessories. However, public reactions to his return have remained sharply divided.

Some fans continue to support Key, arguing that he was also deceived by the individual at the center of the controversy and that no legal charges were ultimately filed against him. Supporters believe the singer should not be indefinitely punished over the incident.

Others, however, criticized the timing of his comeback, claiming that six months may be too soon for the public to move past the controversy.

The issue first surfaced in December 2025 when Key and broadcaster Park Na Rae became embroiled in rumors surrounding a figure nicknamed “Injection Aunt,” who allegedly engaged in unauthorized medical procedures.

At the time, SM Entertainment released an official statement explaining that Key had initially met the individual through a recommendation from an acquaintance while visiting a hospital in Seoul’s Gangnam district.

The agency stated: “Key believed A to be a licensed doctor and received treatment at the hospital. Due to difficulties visiting the hospital later on, he also received several home treatments without recognizing any legal issues.”

The company added that the singer understood the seriousness of the matter and voluntarily stepped down from his scheduled activities and television appearances.

Now, the singer is preparing for a full-scale return alongside his group. SHINee is scheduled to hold a three-day concert from May 29 to 31 at KSPO Dome in Seoul before releasing their sixth mini album “Atmos” on June 1.

With the controversy still fresh in the minds of many netizens, attention is now focused on whether Key can successfully rebuild public trust through his upcoming promotions.
