SHINee fans are voicing strong outrage over what they call unfair treatment by SM Entertainment ahead of member Minho’s upcoming solo concert. The dispute centers on a sudden change in the ticketing policy that has ignited a fierce backlash from the fandom.
The controversy emerged just days before the “2025 BEST CHOI’s MINHO Our Movie” concert, scheduled for December 13–14 at Korea University’s Hwajeong Gymnasium in Seoul. On November 21, SM Entertainment abruptly announced that all attendees must bring physical ID cards for in-person identity verification in order to receive wristbands required for entry. The change, posted quietly on the ticketing site, was not publicly communicated through official fan channels.

The fandom, known as SHINee World, took to social media to protest, calling the move a form of corporate abuse. Posts with hashtags like “SM mistreating fans” and “Unauthorized notice changes are fraud cancel now” went viral, with many fans demanding an official apology and immediate reversal of the decision.
SM explained the policy was introduced to combat illegal ticket reselling and identity fraud. They emphasized that only physical government-issued IDs would be accepted and warned that wristbands and tickets would not be reissued under any circumstances. For fan club pre-sale ticket holders, the official mobile fan club card would also be required.
What angers fans is not the anti-scalping intent but the timing and lack of transparency. Many argue that implementing such strict ID rules less than a month before the event, without fan consultation or wide public notice, is unreasonable and inconsiderate.

To make matters worse, SM’s policy also notes that additional personal data may be collected during the ID verification process, sparking privacy concerns among attendees.
This incident has reignited long-standing frustrations over power imbalances between K-pop agencies and fans. A similar controversy erupted in July when fans attending a DAY6 concert were reportedly asked for excessive documents like school records to verify their identity.
As SHINee’s fandom continues to call for accountability, all eyes are on whether SM Entertainment will address the growing demands for fairness and fan respect.
