On December 17, the production team of the YouTube channel DdeunDdeun announced that Wardrobe Raider Reboot would cease further uploads. In an official statement, the team explained that after “considering the cast member’s position and the surrounding circumstances comprehensively,” they decided to conclude production. They also thanked viewers for their support and asked for understanding regarding the sudden decision.

Wardrobe Raider Reboot was a fashion talk show starring Key, named after his real name Kim Kibum. The program aired biweekly on Friday evenings and had only released two episodes its premiere on November 21 and a second episode on December 5 before being scrapped.

Following the announcement, viewers expressed mixed emotions in the comments, saying things like “It was genuinely fun, so this is disappointing,” “This was a quick and reasonable decision,” and “The production team must feel devastated after putting so much effort into it.”

The controversy stems from Key’s alleged connection to an individual known as “Injection Aunt,” identified as A, who is also linked to broadcaster Park Na-rae’s illegal medical treatment allegations. Suspicion arose after photos of a dog believed to be Key’s pet appeared on A’s social media account.

After remaining silent for 12 days, Key addressed the issue on December 17 through his agency, SM Entertainment. SM stated that Key was introduced to A through an acquaintance and initially believed A to be a licensed doctor working at a hospital in Gangnam. The agency confirmed that while Key primarily received treatment at the hospital, there were also occasions when he was treated at home due to scheduling difficulties thereby acknowledging illegal medical practices.

SM added that Key only learned A was not a licensed physician after the medical license controversy surfaced. The agency emphasized that “Key is deeply reflecting on his ignorance” and announced his decision to step down from all scheduled activities and ongoing programs in recognition of the seriousness of the matter.

Key also issued a personal apology via social media, stating, “I believed I could keep myself distant from things like this, but that confidence prevented me from looking around more carefully. I am deeply sorry and ashamed toward those who trusted and supported me.”

As a result of the scandal, Key has stepped down from tvN’s Amazing Saturday, where he had appeared since 2018, as well as MBC’s I Live Alone, which he had been part of for three years. He has also withdrawn from his scheduled role as an MC at the upcoming MBC Entertainment Awards on December 29.

The situation continues to spark debate online, with many lamenting the collateral damage to production staff and programs, while others stress the importance of accountability when public figures are involved in illegal practices.
