On December 23, Shin Si-ah sat down for an interview at a café in Samcheong-dong, Seoul, to discuss her new film, Even If This Love Disappears from the World Tonight, directed by Kim Hye-young, which is based on the bestselling novel by Ichijo Misaki.

Even If This Love Disappears from the World Tonight tells the story of Han Seo-yoon (played by Shin Si-ah), a girl who loses her memories every single day, and Kim Jae-won (played by Choo Young-woo), the boy who fills in her forgotten moments daily. Together, the two protect each other while slowly building love through shared memories.

The project marks Shin Si-ah’s first attempt at the romance genre.

Speaking about her chemistry with co-star Choo Young-woo, Shin Si-ah said many people commented that the two actors share a similar “visual tone.”

“People often said we had a similar vibe, and I took that as a compliment about our chemistry,” she said. “Choo Young-woo has more acting experience than I do, so I was able to learn a lot from him. Working together was stimulating in a good way, and I felt we created strong synergy.”

She also revealed that many scenes were shaped collaboratively on set rather than strictly following the script.

“There were a lot of moments where we discussed ideas together how to act, how to react, and how to create a rhythm that felt comfortable for both of us,” she explained.

One standout element of the film its warm, natural date scenes was largely improvised.

“Some date scenes only had a montage description without detailed dialogue,” Shin said. “The director asked us, ‘If you two were really dating, what would you do?’ So we came up with ideas on the spot and shared suggestions like, ‘What if we try this?’ A lot of those scenes reflect our real-time ideas.”

She added with a laugh, “Both of us share a similar sense of humor, so we kept bursting out laughing while filming. But because it didn’t match the emotional flow of the story, the director had to tell us to calm down.”

Shin Si-ah also spoke candidly about filming her first-ever kiss scene.

“The director gave very detailed and thoughtful guidance, so I trusted that completely,” she said. “The kiss scene was filmed later in the shoot, after the emotions had built up naturally. I think everything we went through as the characters came out honestly in that moment.”

According to Shin Si-ah, Choo Young-woo shares many traits with his character Kim Jae-won.

“He’s quietly warm and unexpectedly cute,” she said. “Not in a forced way, but in those subtle moments that make you smile. That quality exists in both Young-woo and Jae-won, and I think that helped the character feel more real.”

With Even If This Love Disappears from the World Tonight, Shin Si-ah takes a major step in expanding her acting range, marking a clear transition into emotionally driven, character-focused storytelling. Her reflections highlight not only the challenges of her first romance role, but also the collaborative process that shaped the film’s most intimate moments.
